Throughout the year, in collaboration with Sankofa Group LLC and other entities in the community, Sankofa Foundation produces cultural festivals that showcase the best of African culinary arts/cuisine, music, theatrical performances, dance and other cultural displays.
We also participate in festivals organized by others to promote cultural awareness through food, music, dance and other forms of art.

Ghanafest “Taste of Ghana”
This event is, celebrated in March every year to bring the community to learn, explore and experience Ghana, with fun cultural activities and performances. It is climaxed with a 3-day food expo from Friday night through Sunday to give attendees a taste of Ghana’s flavorful cuisines.

Panafest ” Taste of Africa”

It is climaxed with a 3-day food expo from Friday night through Sunday to give attendees a taste of the different countries in Africa and their flavorful cuisines.

Kidzafest
This play and learn event, celebrated in June every year brings the community to celebrate Africa, with fun cultural activities and performances. It is climaxed with a 3-day theatrical performance by children ages 4-17 from Friday night through Sunday to give attendees a feel of the masterclass performing arts of the diverse cultures in Africa.

Fine Art Exhibition
Twice a year Sankofa Foundation hosts 2 cultural exhibitions during GhanaFest in March and Panafest in August. These exhibitions features talents across Africa in various areas of the arts. During these exhibitions master classes are held for people from all walks of life who want to know more about the different cultures within Africa.
In addition to hosting our own exhibitions Sankofa participates in other exhibitions and cultural programs across the USA

Summer/Winter Camp
In collaboration with schools, organizations, local groups etc, sankofa facilitates a 6 week action packed summer camp that prepares students for African theatrical performances and life long learning. Students who participate in these programs are trained to lead, coach others, and serve as team leads in their school during cultural day performances. Participating groups also get on site training support from Sankofa Foundation team to enhance their cultural day celebrations.

Kente Ball
This black-tie gala is an annual fundraising event. Guests are entertained with live cultural music, dance, poetry and other cultural activities. There is auction and raffle of artwork, and cultural artifacts to raise funds to support Sankofa’s initiatives.
